Webster Wins SLIAC All-Sports Trophy
For the fourth straight year, and the eighth time since the award’s inception in 1999, Webster University has captured the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Sports Trophy. The Gorloks amassed 90 points in 11 sports, an average of 8.18 points per sport, topping runner-up Maryville University.
The SLIAC All-Sports Championship Trophy is determined by awarding points based on each schools finish in the Conference’s 12 sports, earning 10 points for a first-place finish, nine points for a second-place finish, etc. Teams finishing tied split the points for the tied spot and the spot(s) immediately following (two teams finishing tied for third receives 7.5 – eight points for third-place and seven points for fourth-place).
Webster won at least a share of the Conference title in six sports – baseball, men’s basketball, golf softball (shared), women’s soccer (shared), and volleyball. It also finished third in women’s cross country and women’s tennis.
