ST. LOUIS, March 24, 2009 – Webster University presents Rock Your Roots with Singer and songwriter Solange Knowles on Friday, April 17. The concert will take place at 8 p.m. on Garden Avenue on the Webster University main campus. The concert is presented by the Multicultural Center and International Student Affairs at Webster University.

Solange is an American actress, singer, songwriter and model. Her music is influenced by retro R&B and the soul sounds of the 60’s and 70’s. Knowles broke into the music scene at age 16, with the album “Solo Star.”  In August of 2008, Solange released “Sol Angel and The Hadley St. Dreams;” the album’s first single was featured in “Rolling Stone” as her breakthrough single and hit the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. Solange has created a music style that is original and unlike any other.
