The Webster University Symphony Orchestra opens its 2009-2010 season with a “Uniquely American” Program

What/Who:

The Webster University Symphony Orchestra opens its 2009-2010 season with the inaugural concert of new Conductor Paul G. Davis. The Webster Symphony will present a concert billed as “Uniquely American.” Featured on the program will be masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire such as Aaron Copland’s “Dance Scenes from Rodeo,” and George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” The concert will be an evening of eclectic music that has historically defined America.

Performing the Gershwin will be Webster University Professor Daniel Schene. Born in New York City, Professor Schene has been heard as recitalist, concert soloist, chamber musician and accompanist across the United States and Canada, and in France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Chile, Brazil and Asia. He has been on faculty at Webster University since 1983.

Dr. Davis comes to the podium with an extensive professional background that spans both the classical and jazz idioms in conducting, performance and teaching. His musical activities have taken him throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, including a highly acclaimed concert with the Grand Orchestre d’Harmonie des Guides of Brussels, Belgium.

Cost:
