    Rock Your Roots:  Hip-Hop band The Roots Perform at Webster University

    What/Who:

    Grammy Award-winning hip-hop band, The Roots, will perform at Webster University as part of the Rock Your Roots program on Friday, April 18, 2008. Known for their high energy, live performances, The Roots have been on the music scene since 1987, when drummer Questlove (?uestlove) and MC BlackThought met in high school. The band released its first full-length album in 1993, and their highly anticipated 10th album, “Rising Down,” is set to hit store shelves on April 29. Considered by music critics as one of the best live bands of our time, The Roots have collaborated with the likes of Jay-Z, Moby, Erykah Badu, Neely Furtado, Eminem and most recently Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. 

    When:

    Friday, April 18, 2008, 7:30 p.m.
    Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
    Local fusion band Illphonics will open

    Where:

    Outdoor concert on Garden Avenue, on the Webster University campus
    Rain location will be Grant Gymnasium 
    Parking will be available at the Garden Park Plaza Garage
    568 Garden Avenue, with access from the east end of Garden Avenue.

    Cost:

    $20 General Public, cash only please

    Tickets will be available March 31 – April 17 at the Webster University, University Center Information Desk. On sale Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 11 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. 

    If tickets remain they will be available the day of the show at the doors beginning at 6:30 p.m.
