Who is Webster University Worldwide?


Webster University is a private, comprehensive, international university offering undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines including the liberal arts, fine and performing arts, business, and management. Founded in 1915, Webster University serves students at its main campus in St. Louis, Missouri and over 100 extended campus locations Worldwide. Approximately 21,000 students are currently enrolled in the University’s programs worldwide.

What degree programs do you offer at the Ocala Metropolitan Campus?

Webster University offers the Master of Arts (M.A.), the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.), the Master of Health Administration (M.H.A.), and the Master of Arts (M.A.) with the following areas of concentration:

Where are classes held locally?

Classes are held at the Colours Plaza. The address is 3405 Southwest College Road, Ocala. Some classes are held at Central Florida Community College, six blocks east of the main campus. Gainesville classes are held on the Santa Fe Community College Campus.

What is the average class size?

Classes may range in size from 12 to 25 students. This provides greater opportunity for collaborative learning and student-faculty interaction.

Do I have to take the GRE or the GMAT to be admitted to Webster University?

No. To qualify for admission a student is not required to complete an entrance exam but must have earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university. A student is advanced to candidacy upon completion of 12 semester hours with a B average or above (excluding program prerequisites). We believe that maturity and motivation are more accurate indicators of an adult learner’s potential for success than scores on standardized tests.

In cases where the undergrad degree was awarded by a non-regionally accredited institution, the GRE or GMAT may be required as part of the admission process.

What grade point average is required for entrance and continuing students?

Webster University requires a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0 for entrance at part-time and a 2.5 for entrance at full-time. Once enrolled the student is expected to maintain at least a B average. A student who receives a grade of C and a grade of F or two grades of F or three grades of C is dismissed from the degree program.

What type of accreditation does Webster University have?

Webster University and Ocala Metropolitan Campus are accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. This accreditation covers both undergraduate and graduate classes at all locations where the University offers programs. The University is licensed in Florida by the State Board of Independent Colleges and Universities

How are your classes scheduled?

Webster University offers five 9-week terms each calendar year, beginning in January, March, May, August and October. You may begin your program at any of these times. Classes meet one night per week 5:30 pm. to 9:30 pm and on alternating Saturdays from 8 am. to 5 pm.

What are the qualifications of the faculty?

Over 60% of the faculty have a terminal degree in the field in which they work and teach. Webster University requires faculty members to have studied what they teach, worked in the field they teach and have prior college teaching experience.

Can I transfer credits to Webster University that I earned at another school?

Yes. Webster University’s graduate school will consider for transfer up to 12 semester hours (9 for the M.B.A. and M.S.C.S.) from other regionally accredited graduate institutions or from professional military education, provided these credits are relevant to your course of study at Webster University, and the grades earned in those classes were no lower than a B-.

How long will it take me to complete my degree program?

By taking two courses per term, it is possible for you to complete the M.A. or the M.B.A. degree requirements in as little as 24 months. The only exceptions are the M.A. in Counseling and the M.B.A. with an emphasis which require approximately 20 months.

What does it cost to attend Webster University?

Tuition for the 2006 - 2007 academic year is $410 credit hour or $1,230 per 3-semester hour class.

Are there any other fees?

Except for books, the only other costs are the $50 application fee and a $50 graduation fee when you complete your program. There are no additional "registration" or "activity" fees.

What are my options for paying tuition?

Private company tuition reimbursement, Veterans Administration educational benefits, Military Tuition Assistance, deferred payment plan, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and personal check are acceptable methods of payment.

Is financial aid available?

Students are eligible to participate in the University’s student loan program. However, the amount of financial aid available may vary for each student and is determined by the Financial Aid Office at Webster University’s main campus in St. Louis.

What is a Gorlok?

The Gorlok is Webster University's school mascot. It is a mythical creature that was designed by Webster staff and students through a school contest. It is reported to have the paws of a speeding cheetah, horns of a fierce buffalo, and the face of a dependable Saint Bernard. The myth of the Gorlok "embodies the highest standards of speed, agility, and stamina in an atmosphere of fairness and good conduct."
