Blackboard 9
Webster University has initiated a phased upgrade to Blackboard Learn (Bb9). This page will serve as an information clearing house to keep users up to date on the process as we move through this multi-year plan.
Phase 1: Changing Servers
Beginning Summer 2009, Webster University will start phase one of our move toward Blackboard 9. We will be moving the WorldClassRoom to different servers in preparation for phase 2. Please review the information below to see how this will impact you as a user.
My Files Area
Affects: All users
Due to the privacy controls built into the system, we are unable to move any user's personal content to the new system.
Each user will be responsible for moving his or her own files from the My Files area on the old system to the My Files area on the new system. This must be done no later than the end of the Fall 1 2009 term.
Please consult the following printable instructions and screencast for help with this.
- Step by Step Guide to moving your files (PDF)
After Fall 1 2009, users will not have access to the old system as its servers will be decommissioned.
Past Courses
Affects: All faculty
Past courses are available after logging into the WorldClassRoom and clicking on "One-click access to old server" on the My Blackboard page. Courses taught before the Summer 2009 term are available to faculty through this link.
Courses taught since our move (Summer 2009) will be listed as usual on your current My Blackboard page.
Faculty have access to past courses up to one academic year from the term they are taught.
Phase 2: Inital Roll Out
Beginning in Spring 2010, students and faculty will start seeing a new entry page to the WorldClassRoom. While your courses will look and behave exactly the same, we will be rolling out various features of the new system. Stay tuned.
