Online Teaching Opportunities

Webster Instructors

We are accepting applications for current Webster University instructors interested in teaching online.

Our experience to date suggests that the following characteristics / qualifications are essential for a successful online teaching experience:

  • Exceptional interest and expertise in course content coupled with strong computer and internet proficiency and appropriate access
  • A positive attitude and a considerable level of patience for those new challenges that are unique to teaching in an online environment
  • Excellent written communication skills for significant interaction with the student
  • Appropriate academic credentials in the field with prior Webster experience teaching the course for which you are interested.

If you are interested, please include the following information in an e-mail to teachonline@webster.edu.

  • Your CARS ID
  • A current copy of your vitae.
  • A statement of your interest and qualifications to teach online.
  • The specific courses you are already approved to teach and have taught on-ground.
    • Please peruse the complete listing of courses and programs offered online to make sure that the courses of interest are available.

Not a Webster Instructor?

At this time, instructors that currently teach at a Webster campus are being given priority in the application review process.

If you would like to become a Webster instructor, speak to a site director or faculty coordinator at a campus near you. Campus locations can be found in a drop-down menu on the right-hand side of this page..


Current Online Instructors

The Online Faculty Information Center is a repository of resources designed to assist in the delivery of quality online courses and a communal area for requesting and providing assistance to technical and pedagogical issues in online courses. Below you will find a list of available resources:

CALENDAR OF IMPORTANT DATES

Do you have trouble remembering when your course must be completed? The calendar provides reminders as to when your Master Course is due (Course Mentors only), when you have access to your course section, when students have access to the course and grade deadlines.

ANNOUNCEMENTS DATES

Have you noticed a new course tool such as the "Writing Assistance" link in your course? The announcements posted in the Faculty Information Center will provide valuable information about system maintenance and outages, system enhancements/updates and other changes that may affect your course?

TRAINING INFORMATION

Is it 2 o'clock in the morning the day that grades are due and you can't remember how to add a new column to your gradebook? The Faculty Information Center has an area devoted to training. Tutorials and manuals are available to walk you through many Blackboard Vista topics.

CONFERENCE ARCHIVES

Were you unable to attend the Online Faculty Conference? The Online Learning Center held a recent conference with the theme "Reflect, Rethink, Renew" to promote the enhancement of online instruction. The conference archives will enable you to view many of the conference sessions. Audio, video and other helpful materials are available for your viewing.

ONLINE HELP

Do you need help and can't quite figure out whom to ask? Check the Faculty Information Center for valuable tips, tricks and discussions or post your own question to the discussion forums. Questions posted in the discussions are answered in a timely manner.

Available to all online faculty, just log onto the WorldClassRoom. If you don't see it in your course list, contact the Online Learning Center.
