Technical Requirements: BbVista
The best way to assure your computer is configured correctly is to use the browser check (top right corner) on the World Classroom. This will ensure that your browser is configured properly for use with Blackboard Vista. For more information about these requirements, please see the information below.
Minimum vs. Recommended Settings
Aside from your web browser, the two most important factors for ensuring a smooth and enjoyable online learning experience are your screen resolution and connection speed. Often the minimum supported settings lead to a reduced online experience.
| Setting | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Connection Speed | Dial up (56k) | DSL/Cable |
| Screen Resolution | 800x600 | 1024x768 |
Connection Speed - Connection speed may not impact regular course activities, however many instructors incorporate video and other rich media components in their courses. While me make every effort to try and accomodate the widest audience possible, there are limits dictated by some types of content.
Screen Resolution - Courses are designed to maximize the focus on content. Along with the suggested screen resolution of 1024x768, you should also take care to notice your browser chrome (e.g. extra tool bars, sidebars, etc..).
Browser Requirements
Once you have determined your browser version, you can then check to see that your browser is supported for use with Blackboard Vista.

- Unsupported: These browser are known to have significant issues in operation with Blackboard Vista and are not supported for use with Blackboard Vista.
- Browsers not listed: Browsers not shown on this table have not been tested. They may or may not work with Blackboard Vista. It is strongly recommended that you use a Validated browser.
Virus Protection
Currently, Blackboard Vista doesn't offer virus protection for anyone. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that any attachments and/or files that you send through Blackboard Vista, open, or download are scanned for viruses.
