I am Webster University alum and have been enrolled in courses at Webster University during the previous year. Why can’t I apply for this scholarship program?

The University is encouraging alumni who have been previously deterred by cost from seeking another degree. The summer term is traditionally the beginning of a new academic and fiscal year at the University when new policies and programs are implemented. Webster is sympathetic to currently enrolled alumni and appreciates their loyalty to the University, but is unable to make the PESA scholarship program retroactive.

Can I take more than one class per term?

Yes. The scholarship can be applied to a maximum of two classes per term, for up to three terms (Summer, Fall I, and Fall II, 2009).

How much scholarship money can I expect to receive?

The scholarship is equivalent to approximately 50% of the cost of a credit hour. The total amount of scholarship money received will depend on the number of credit hours, number of courses (two per term maximum), and number of terms (three total – Summer, Fall I, Fall II, 2009) that the student enrolls. The amount is also dependent on the campus because of differing tuition rates for some campuses.

It is important to note that the PESA scholarship program may impact other financial aid. In addition, the PESA scholarship cannot exceed the cost of tuition.

Do I have to take classes in all three terms to receive the scholarship?

No. Students can take one class or up to a maximum of six classes (two per term X three terms) during the Summer, Fall I, and Fall II sessions.

When will I hear about my scholarship?

Applications are processed on a rolling basis. Look for a PESA Scholarship award letter in the mail.

    What programs are excluded?

Webster’s highly specialized programs – MAT, MFA, DMgt, Nurse Anesthesia, and Cohort programs – are excluded. All online classes are also excluded.

Furthermore, only alumni (regardless of their campus of graduation) choosing to study at a domestic U.S. campus and/or at the Geneva, Leiden, and Vienna campuses AND who have not been enrolled at Webster in the previous academic year (since Summer term 2008) are eligible.
