Simple MOO CommandsGetting around in a MOO is very simple. There are two main forms of transportation in MOOs. These are walking and teleportation. In order to walk from one room to another type the direction in which you want to move. [north, souuth, southeast, etc.] These commands can usually be abreviated to one or two letters. [n, s, se, etc.]
Two common command for telepotation are home and @join. Home teleports you to the loction in which your character sleeps when you are not loged on. This is also the location in which your character appears when you initialy log on. The @join command must be followed with another characters name. [@join bob] This command teleports you to the location of the specified character.
say [verbal message] - this command allows you to speak to other characters. You will only be heard by those in the same room as you.
emote [nonverbal message] - this command allows you to communicate gestures and thoughts without speaking. Your message will only be recieved by those in the same room as you.
page [character name] with [message] - This command allows you to speak to any specific character. The character can be anywhere in the MOO.
look - gives a description of your imidiate surroundings.
look [object] - gives description of the object.
@exam [object] - gives a detailed description of the object including usefull verbs.
@who - gives a list of everyone loged onto the MOO.
whereis [character] - gives the location of the other character.
finger [character] - find out about the character.
@quit - logs you off of the MOO.
help, or help [topic] - will usualy give instructions in the form of a brief manual.
If all else fails talk to other people on the MOO. Odds are someone will know what they are doing and will pe pleased to help. This is the only way to really learn the MOO environment.
