Religion’s Dangerous Dynamics: Connecting Ideology and Biology

In the long history of human development, violence and warfare do not represent moments of occasional dysfunction but are defining activities. Religiously inspired and sanctioned violence is no less usual. From the ancient world to the Reformation to 9/11, faith-based killing has featured prominently in human social life. At present, religiously induced violence is particularly salient, and disconcertingly potent.
