Dr. Todd Tremlin obtained his Ph.D. in Comparative Religion from Western Michigan University. His field of scholarly research focuses on the psychology of religion. He is the author of Minds and Gods: The Cognitive Foundations of Religion, which explains the origins and persistence of religious ideas by looking through the lens of science at the common structures and functions of human thought. It also shows how the belief in gods and the social formation of religion have their genesis in biology, in powerful processes that all humans share. Dr. Tremlin has long been engaged in research into the relation of religion and violence. His work in this area will soon appear in his next book titled Fatal Charades: Myth, Morality, and the Evolutionary Roots of Religious Violence.
