New Student Orientation Set for May 17
New Webster students should plan to attend the New Student Orientation scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Sam Houston Club on Fort Sam Houston.
During the orientation new students are given an overview of the University and its programs; University policies are explained; and students are introduced to Webster unique programs such as Connections (for communicating with instructors and accessing e-services) and Passports (Webster University’s online library). Webster University’s academic advisors will be in attendance and will be able to meet with students to answer any questions they might have.
All Webster University students are required to attend a new student orientation. Students who were not able to attend an orientation when they started their Webster program should also make plans to attend the May orientation. New students who have a Saturday morning class at Fort Sam Houston will be dismissed by their instructors so they can attend the orientation.

Webster University Sets New Tuition Rates
Tuition Increase begins with Summer ’08 Term
Webster University has announced new tuition rates for graduate programs for the 2008-2009 academic year. The increase will affect most students in the San Antonio Region and will go into effect with the Summer Term which begins May 31.
The University has approved a 1.69 percent ($5 per credit hour) increase in tuition for active duty military. The increase will bring tuition up to $300 per semester hour for students who received the military discount which includes: active duty military, reservists, national guard, federal civil service including non-appropriated fund workers, federal contract employees, retired military, spouses of retired military, military veterans, and military dependents.
Tuition for non-military civilians attending classes on any of the San Antonio Region military installations will increase to $375 per semester hour. This too is a discount compared to students who attend classes on main campus in St. Louis.
Online tuition rates will also increase to $610.00 per semester hour for most students. The online military rate (which is for active duty military members only) will increase to $427 per semester hour – a 30 percent discount compared to other students.
Webster University-San Antonio Changes Bookstore
Beginning with the Spring terms Webster students will have a new source for textbooks.
The San Antonio campuses of Webster University will begin using the Missouri Bookstore (MBS), instead of the bookstore at the University of the Incarnate Word, for student’s textbooks. This will bring the San Antonio campuses in line with all other Webster University extended campuses across the United States.
The Missouri Bookstore has been working with the Webster faculty and staff to ensure that the required books are in stock for students. To order books students can click on the new bookstore link at the bottom of the Webster San Antonio home page www.webster.edu/sa. Then they should click on the “Order my books” button at the top of the page, select the term, the campus and then the class they have registered for and the bookstore will show you which book you will need for that class.
Spring 1 books should be available from MBS by Dec. 1.
Students can also check to see what books they will need by looking at their class syllabus which will be available on the Webster-San Antonio Web site by Thanksgiving Day.
