Master of Business Administration

Description

Webster's Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program provides training in business for students interested in understanding the working nature of business in a competitive environment. Courses in the M.B.A. program integrate information and theories from various disciplines, including accounting, economics, finance, marketing, production operations, and strategic management.

The objective of this program is to develop students into broadly educated business managers and executives who understand the nature of business as a whole, with the tools and techniques applicable to a wide variety of business situations.

The capstone for the M.B.A. program gives students the chance to bring together all of the theories, skills, and tools studied during the program and integrate them into a learning experience that highlights the nature of competition and the kind of strategic maneuvering that must be done in order to succeed. Additionally, the M.B.A. core curriculum is aligned with the content areas that are specified for the new Certified M.B.A. (CMBA) examination.

Curriculum

The M.B.A. degree requires the satisfactory completion of 27 credit hours of the M.B.A. curriculum and 9 credit hours of graduate electives for a total of 36 credit hours. The 36 credit hour program provides a comprehensive foundation in accounting, finance, management, and marketing. It can be completed in 15-18 months.

Specialty Areas

You also have the opportunity to maximize your M.B.A. by adding an area of speciality. If you choose to add a specialty area, you will complete a minimum of 48 credit-hours. With a specialty, the degree will be completed in about 24 months. Requirements for an area of speciality in the M.B.A. program are identical to requirements for a major in the master of arts (M.A.) program. Areas of emphasis for the M.B.A. degree are:

Sequential M.B.A.

Webster also offers a sequential M.B.A. for students who hold an M.A., M.S., or equivalent graduate degree from Webster University or another regionally accredited college or university. If you qualify, this option allows you to earn your M.B.A. in less time by taking only the M.B.A. core courses. Plus, if you have taken any of the M.B.A. core courses as electives for your M.A. or M.S. degree, up to 6 credit-hours may count toward the 27 total credit-hours you need to earn a sequential M.B.A.
