Frequently Asked Questions

Admissions

What are the admissions requirements for Webster University?
There is some variance between Graduate and Undergraduate programs and additional requirements if you are an international student. In general, however, Webster requires an application for admission, official transcripts from all previous colleges and universities, and an admissions fee. As the undergraduate degrees are Bachelors Completion Programs, applicants must be able to transfer a minimum of 64 semester credit hours.

Does Webster require the GMAT or GRE for admission to it Graduate Program?
If your bachelor's degree is from a regionally accredited institution, then the GMAT or GRE is not required. If your bachelor's degree is not from a regionally accredited institution, then we recommend contacting an Academic Advisor to discuss options for admissions.

Can I take courses at Webster without actually pursuing a degree?
Yes, but the normal limitation is six semester credit hours (the equivalent of two courses). Additional hours are possible, but only if geared to a specific purpose (e.g., preparation for the CPA exam, licensure as a mental health counselor), with prior permission, and after submission of official transcripts from colleges and universities previously attended.

How many semester credit hours can I transfer from other colleges or universities toward a Webster University degree?

Toward an undergraduate degree, Webster will accept up to 98 semester credit hours from appropriately accredited institutions, as well as from standardized tests such as CLEP, DANTES, ACT-PEP, or ADVANCED PLACEMENT.

Toward a graduate degree, all transfer credits must have been completed at a regionally accredited college or university and must conform to Webster University guidelines. You are limited to a maximum of 12 semester credit hours towards an MA degree or 9 towards the MBA.

Credits may also be transferred from training programs which have been evaluated by the American Council on Education. See the University catalog or an Academic Advisor for more detailed information on transfer policies.

Is Webster University on the semester or quarter system?

Webster University has 3 semesters split into 5 terms (2 in Spring, 1 in Summer, 2 in Fall). Most Webster courses carry three semester hours of credit. Some courses carry 1 semester credit hour, while others can vary between 1-4 semester credit hours.

At the undergraduate level, the terms are eight weeks long. Each course meets one evening (5:30-9:30pm) per week for a total of 32 contact hours.

At the graduate level, the terms are nine weeks long. Each course meets one evening (5:00 or 5:45-10:00pm) per week for a total of 36 contact hours.
