Frequently Asked Questions

Course Preparation

Do I have to pay for course syllabi or handouts which might be distributed in a class meeting?
While you are responsible for textbooks and other basic course materials, syllabi and handouts which may be distributed in each class are provided at no additional charge.

How much preparation will I typically have to do for each class meeting?
At a minimum, you should plan on two hours of preparation for each hour in the classroom. Thus each course would require a minimum investment of twelve hours (8 in preparation, 4 in the classroom) per week.

Do I need my own personal computer?
While certainly helpful and recommended, this is not essential as Webster University has fully equipped computer labs which are available for student use.

          Is research required?
Not necessarily, but this will depend upon course content, the faculty member’s approach to the subject matter, and the specifics of assignments. Webster University students have access to PASSPORTS, the University’s online library research system. In addition, if you choose to join a local library, Webster will reimburse you for the membership fee upon submission of the original receipt.
