Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE) at Webster University is the #1 ranked collegiate chess program in the United States. The SPICE team won the College Chess Final Four Championships five years in a row from 2013–2017.

Instruction will be provided by members of the nation’s #1 ranked Webster University Chess Team, based on Susan Polgar’s popular and highly effective chess curriculum and direct guidance.

Jumpstarters (Unrated – USCF Rating 500): This class is for kids who know the basic rules of the game and will introduce all the basic tactics, strategies, opening principles and endgame techniques to the student in a fun classroom setting.

Challengers (USCF Rating 500-1000): This class is for scholastic tournament players! Lessons will focus on advanced strategies and tactics, endgames as well as important practical tips for the competitive player.

Class Dates:

Fall I Class dates: September 7, 14, 21, 28–October 5, 12
Fall II Class dates: Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23–Dec. 7, 14

Hours: Class 11:15 am to 12:45 pm on Saturdays (in 2 groups)

Where: Webster University SPICE at 475 East Lockwood Avenue, Luhr Building in Webster Groves.
