Freshman Profiles About Staying Connected |
Parents Weekend Wrap-up Billy Ratz, Alumni and Parent Programs Parents were welcomed to Webster University for Parents Weekend 2008 by President Neil George at a special reception in the Community Music School Lobby. Parents Weekend was held in conjunction with Homecoming and brought together parents, students, alumni, staff and faculty to celebrate Webster University and to remember Webster's past and celebrate its future. September 26th through the 28th brought various events for Parents to enjoy with their students and to witness what life at Webster is like.
Friday kicked off with campus tours as renovations to the oldest residence hall, Maria Hall, were displayed. Other popular stops were East and West Hall and the University Center; all student hot spots. The deans of Webster's five schools and colleges assisted President George welcome parents to campus at a special reception in the Community Music School lobby. Parents had the opportunity to ask questions of the deans and get a better handle on the academic experience their students are in the process of receiving from Webster's wonderful faculty.
Saturday started with the fourth annual Student vs. Alumni Flag Football game and Pep Rally. The Alumni have won the last three years and this year the students got their revenge by winning 85 to 12. Next year, the alumni are looking for some help from you parents to reclaim their trophy! Saturday concluded with a Jazz Reception and Trivia Night, both sponsored by two of Webster's alumni chapters. The weekend came to a close on Sunday with the Blue and Gold Brunch. Parents were able to mix and mingle with students and alumni and watch a montage of photographs from the weekend activities.
A special thanks goes out to all the parents able to join us for the weekend. Mark your calendars for the last weekend of September 2009 for our next Parents Weekend. We hope to see you there.
