October Sports Update
Dusty Lopez, Athletics Department

Fall sports at Webster have cruised through a successful regular season and now look to championship competition in November.

Women’s soccer finished second in the SLIAC during the regular season, with a record of 6-2 in the conference (14-4 overall). The team will head into the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed.

The volleyball team finished the conference regular season undefeated and at the top of the standings. With an overall record of 20-6, the Gorloks will come into the SLIAC tournament as favorites to win and return to the NCAA tournament.

Men’s soccer finished a tough conference schedule with a record of 4-3-1 (5-7-3 overall) and clinched a spot in the SLIAC tournament on the last day of the regular season.

The cross country team continued to grow and gain experience. Freshman Derrick McKee achieved two firsts for the program, earning a SLIAC runner of the week honor as well as earning his first collegiate victory at the H.W. Wright Classic, hosted by Millikin University. The team will compete at the SLIAC championship and the NCAA regional championship in the next three weeks.

On October 1, the entire athletic department proudly took part in community service programs throughout the St. Louis area as part of the annual Webster Works Worldwide day. Every Gorlok team participated in the initiative, and represented the University well.
