Webster, an Exciting Campus
Patrick Stack, D.Min., LMFT, LPC, NCC, CASAC,
Director of Counseling/Life Development

I thoroughly enjoy the ebb and flow of university life. Take today. I was in a traffic jam that extended from the lights at Edgar and Garden south onto the bridge over I-44, almost to Jackson Ave. The traffic jam was because of our active campus. There were so many students going this way and that way, crossing at the stoplight. Also, our extended campus directors from our international campuses and our domestic campuses are meeting this week here in St. Louis. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis has a wonderful play, Amadeus, running until October 4th. I have strongly recommended that my Freshmen Seminar students attend this play.

The May Gallery, located on the second floor of the Sverdrup building, is displaying beautiful photos by Andrew Davidhazy of the Rochester Institute of Technology. Former Missouri governor Bob Holden, now a Webster faculty member, recently hosted a Pizza and Politics forum in the University Center. Our sports teams are always encouraging students to come out and cheer. Over eighty student organizations, departments, and community service agencies participated in the Involvement Fair, encouraging students to join in.

All of these events represent just the tip of the iceberg, reflecting a dynamic and active campus. No student can legitimately say, “There is nothing to do at Webster.” If your student voices boredom with Webster, they may be too shy to join in the myriad of activities. Or they may be missing the hundreds of flyers, posters, and on-line announcements that promote these many events. Students can go the Information Desk in the University Center to obtain information on upcoming campus events. Or, they can check out the on-line calendar at http://www.webster.edu/studlife/calendar/calendar.html.
