Fall Parents Weekend Wrap-up
Billy Ratz, Alumni and Parent Programs

Fallfest: Homecoming and Parents Weekend 2009 was held the weekend of October 9-11. Rain and cold greeted parents, alumni and students to the various Fallfest activities. The weekend started off with the annual Welcome Reception on Friday evening. The reception gave parents the opportunity to mix and mingle with other parents as well as administrators and alumni. The first Fallfestival was held this year on Garden Avenue. Despite the cold, hundreds of people enjoyed the Ferris wheel, bumper cars and other various carnival rides and played the dozens of games all run by student organizations.

Saturday began with sessions on Study Abroad and Career Services. Parents and their students were able to ask questions of the staff members of the two departments and find out how Webster can assist their student in learning more about the world and how to find a job once they leave Webster’s classrooms. A Picnic and the Annual Students vs. Alumni Flag Football game were enjoyed outside as the sun decided to make an appearance for the weekend. The alumni took back the trophy 44-39 after a major defeat at the hands of the students last year. Saturday finished off with a Jazz Reception featuring alum Butch Thomas ’83 who has played with Sting and Elton John and the Trivia Challenge on Saturday evening.

The weekend wrapped up with the Blue & Gold Brunch on Sunday as President Beth Stroble told those in attendance her Webster Story and how happy she was to now be a member of the Webster family. The weekend was a giant success with over 1400 parents, alumni, students and friends in attendance; the largest Homecoming yet at Webster University. Mark your calendars for next year as Homecoming: Reunion & Parents Weekend moves to September 24-26, 2010!
