Martin Dassun

Economics Major

Staying Connected: Any advice for incoming freshmen?
Martin Dassun: The most important thing is to try to do everything on time, be it homework or school activities and work. Avoid procrastination; it will lead to you being stressed out.

SC: What has been your best on campus experience?
MD: Orientation Week, all the friends I have right now I made during orientation, I also learned a lot about university lifestyle and housing.

SC: What has been your worst on campus experience?
MD: The first week of fall was very cold, I come from a country with fairly constant weather the cold was unsettling

SC: Is your current workload with classes more or less than you thought it would be?
MD: It is what I expected

SC: What do your weekends usually consist of doing?
MD: Get away from the academics and hangout with friends in a non stressful environment and sometimes participate in school planned events such as the St Louis city tour and Great Gorlok Race.

SC: What do you most miss about high school and/or living at home?
MD: I have lived in Ecuador all my life and I have attended the same school for 13 years and this change makes me miss home.

SC: Do you have an on campus job? If so, where/how many hours a week?
MD: Lab Assistant for DTS, 12hours

SC: Favorite aspects of campus life?
MD: The people that you meet. Living in west hall allows you to interact with a lot of fellow freshman and this is very helpful.

SC: What’s on your desk right now?
MD: It’s a mess. My laptop, printer, lamp, Post-Its, letter from social security administration, and my French book.
