If your son or daughter complains that there is nothing to do on campus,
have them join the SGA Events List Serve. Have them go to the SGA
web-site and submit their email on the form found near the bottom
of the page.
Rock the Vote! Is your son or daughter registered
to vote? Well they should be (and you should be too)! After a long history
of people gaining voting rights, it is important for everyone to embrace
this right and vote! Remind your son or daughter that voter registration
forms are available at the University Center Front Desk.

-Last Women’s Basketball Home game is Tuesday, February 24 at
7 p.m. versus Principia.

Conservatory Production:
Lysistrata by Aristophanes will run February 18-22 and 25-29 at 7:30
PM (Sundays at 2 p.m.) in the Emerson Studio Theatre of the Loretto

| Maurizio’s Pizza |
Every week a group of Webster students visit this pizza
buffet on Thursdays at 11 p.m. What is all the hype about? Encourage
your son or daughter to visit this hang-out, to visit, eat pizza and
hot-wings, and more! The buffet is only $8 with a Webster I.D.

| Bowling League |
Even if your son or daughter isn’t officially
in the league, they will find that a fun hangout place is Crestwood
Bowl on Thursday nights (9:30-midnight). The league starts February
19 and ends April 30. |
| Ski Trip |
On Sunday, February 22 (2:30-8:30 p.m.) Campus Recreation
sponsors a ski trip to Hidden Valley Ski Resort. It is only $10 for
students. Sign-ups are at the UC Front Desk |
| Brother Outsider |
On Wednesday, February 25 (3-5 p.m.) in the Emerson
Library Conference room, Baynard Rustin will be featured in a feature-length
documentary portrait. Rustin is best remembered as the organizer of
the 1963 March on Washington, one of the largest nonviolent protests
ever held in the United States. Despite these achievements, Rustin
was silenced, threatened, arrested and beaten largely because he was
openly gay. Webster Pride Association sponsors this event honoring
Rustin’s activism for peace, racial equality and human rights. |
| Words from the Soul |
An event formerly known as Love Jones takes place on
Friday, February 27th in the Grant Gym from 7-10 p.m. Whether you
speak, spit, sing or recite, this is the place to bring your talent
to light. All wordsmiths, poets, and lovers of neo-soul are encouraged
to step up to the mic and share a piece of their soul. Join the MCISA
at this revamped poetry night—full of great food, amazing sounds
of the band Alkebulan and words from the soul of many Webster writers. |
| Hip Hop Love |
On Tuesday, March 2, (Winnie Moore, 6p.m.) Bakari Kitwana,
the former executive editor of Source Magazine and author of “Why
White Kids Love Hip Hop” and “The Rap of Gangsta Rap,”
will lecture on the origin of hip hop culture and its influence on
national politics. Named one of the hip-hop generation’s emerging
public intellectuals by the Village Voice, Kitwana has been a music
reviewer for NPR’s “All Things Considered.” He is
currently a visiting scholar at Kent State University and a consultant
on hip-hop for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame |

On Sunday, March 28th, students are encouraged to gather
up a team and take part in the largest recreational volleyball tournament
in Gorlok Country! Team registration is soon, so contact Campus Recreation

April 5 is the date set for the School of Communication’s
award ceremony (a spoof of the Oscars), an elegant evening recognizing
exceptional work with food, entertainment, and more! |

Does your son or daughter make films or video pieces?
Encourage them to enter into Webster’s film and video series,

| Battle of the Bands |
On Friday, April 23rd from 6-11 p.m., a variety of
musical groups will perform in the biggest musical tournament of the
year! Encouraging all kinds musical groups to perform, the Student
Activities Council needs your son or daughter to register for this

| Semi-formal Dance |
A calendar marker! Saturday, April 24th is the date
set for the dance party, marking the beginning of the end of the year!

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS:
A wide variety of student organizations exist for students to join.
Encourage your son or daughter to contact their student organization
of choice by use of the mailboxes located in the Student Leadership
Center in the University Center (UC).
Does your son or daughter want to start a new student organization?
The person for them to contact is John Ginsburg, the director of the
UC and student activities. His office is located behind the University
Center Information Desk. Serving as a resource for student organization
leaders and advisors, John is responsible for the registration and oversight
of student organizations and is the advisor of the SGA.
