Status of Campus Housing for 2008-09
Sarah Tetley, Assistant Director of Housing and Residential Life

Thank you to all of the families whose student chose the Department of Housing and Residential Life for their 2008 – 2009 academic year housing needs! We look forward to being their home away from home.

Many students participated in our Room Sign-Up process for the 2008 – 2009 academic year. If your student has been talking with you / asking for guidance, here are a few pieces of information to help you in your conversations.

  • If your student signed up for a room they would have completed a room sign-up form. This is a formal agreement signifying that they have contracted for their on-campus space for 2008-09.
  • For information on cancellation fees please reference the following website: http://www.webster.edu/housing/apply.shtml. If your student is not planning on utilizing their space for the 2008 – 2009 academic year for any reason (study abroad, transferring, planning to live off-campus) they must contact the office immediately to fill out a request for release.
  • Students who are required to live on-campus (freshman outside 35 miles, international students) cannot be released from their space. All students who are required to live on-campus have either already chosen a space or one will be assigned to them within the next several weeks. Students can fill out request for exemption if they feel they have extenuating circumstances. These forms are available at the housing office in West Hall.
  • Students who did not receive their preferred space, can choose to participate in our wait list. Over the next several weeks, we will be receiving cancellations for various reasons. If your student is on the wait list and their name is selected for a space that frees up, they will be contacted to fill out another housing sign-up form for the new space. We will be working through the wait list through the spring semester, through the summer months, and up until opening in August.
  • Students who did not participate in the sign-up process and still wish to get on the wait l ist for housing can still contact the office. They will be placed on the Wait List for spaces that will become available throughout the spring semester and summer months

Hopefully this information will help you guide your students in the right direction regarding their housing needs. If they have any additional questions they can contact the Housing and Residential Life Office at 314-246-4663 or housing@webster.edu
