Welcome to the seventh issue of the 2007-08 academic year for Staying Connected,
a newsletter for parents of first-year students.
Registration for Fall
First-year students could begin registering for Fall semester classes on April 9. All undergraduate registration
requires advisor approval. If your son or daughter has not yet registered, please encourage them to contact their
advisor and register soon, so that they have the best choice of classes.
Accreditation
We are in the final preparations for the site visit (March 31-April 2) that is part of our comprehensive
accreditation by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. The Commission sends an
evaluation team of Consultant/Evaluators to conduct a comprehensive visit for continued accreditation, and to
write a report containing the team’s recommendations. For more information on the Webster University Self-Study
and the accreditation process, visit the following website:

End-of-The-Year Coming Soon
As I write this column, I am in the midst of preparing for a number of events to celebrate the accomplishments of
students. This involves many students who are graduating and leaving Webster after four years of great experiences.
I am struck by how quickly the time has passed since these graduates-to-be were first-year students just beginning
their journey through the University. The college experience can go by so quickly. For those paying the bill, I’m
sure it can’t go by quickly enough. Does that sound right? Because the time can slip by so quickly, I urge students
to take advantage of all that the University has to offer so that they get the most from each day, week, month, and
year they spend here. When students are actively engaged in their undergraduate education in and out of the classroom,
you get the most return for the hard-earned money you are investing in their future.
This is probably our last issue for the 2007-08 academic year. Congratulations to your
son or daughter for nearing the completion of their first year in college.
Have a great summer.
Sincerely,
Ted Hoef, Ph.D.
