Beginning August 21, you will see a number of changes in Campus Dining Services. This year, Webster is proud to offer a number of top notch campus restaurants, none of which are over three years old. University Center Crossroads The dining facilities in the University Center have been completely renovated in anticipation of higher student demand due to the opening of the new residence halls. The Gorlok Grill has been replaced with the WOW Café and Freshëns Smoothie Company. The WOW Café is a Louisiana-based “wingery” restaurant that features fresh salads, Angus burgers, quesadillas, fajitas, shrimp, chicken tenders, wraps, sandwiches, and their wildly popular wings. For more information, visit http://www.wingery.com/ The Freshëns Smoothie Company features smoothies, frozen treats, and fresh-baked gourmet pretzels. For more information, visit http://www.freshens.com/ Blimpie Subs & Salads was originally scheduled to be renovated and updated over the winter break. However, we are proceeding with that renovation now, with hopes of re-opening a new and updated Blimpie after Fall Break. Café ŕ la Cart (Sverdrup lounge) This new modular kiosk system is designed to offer a convenient, casual, quick location for grabbing a cold beverage, a cup of Starbucks coffee, fresh bakery item, sandwich, salad, fruit cup, or a quick snack before class. Jazzman’s Café (Emerson Library) Jazzman’s Café will feature new coffees, quicker service, and an expanded menu. The new Jazzman’s coffee will include a variety of Rainforest Alliance Certified coffees plus a Fair Trade Organic Blend. The new coffees will allow customers to support sustainable coffee farms and forest and wildlife conservation. A new espresso machine and additional staffing will allow us to serve customers faster during peak periods. The expanded menu includes panini sandwiches, soups, and snacks. We had expected to switch Jazzman’s Café to a coffee bar serving Starbucks coffee and espresso. However, the Starbucks senior management team made a strategic decision that changed the programs that they make available to colleges. A letter of apology from Starbucks explained how this decision has made it impossible for us to feature Starbucks in the library. Marletto’s Marketplace The Showcase station (Mongolian grill) in Marletto’s will be transformed into Expeditions – a global taste adventure. Each week, Chef Todd and the culinary staff will feature a menu from a different part of the world. Other Changes The small snack cart located on the 3rd floor of Webster Hall has been closed. Credit cards and debit cards will be accepted at all campus dining locations. The wiring for this should be ready within the first couple of weeks of the semester. |
