At Risk
Student Report
Sometimes
students leave college for understandable and legitimate reasons.
On the other hand, there are students who leave because they
may not be aware of resources, assistance, etc. The staff in
various student service units can intervene to assist students
in both situations to ensure a smooth transition out of the
Webster community or to help the student achieve success here.
If you
believe a student is at risk for leaving Webster University
and needs some type of intervention, please provide as much
of the following information as possible.
If you have
any questions, please contact Student Affairs at (314) 968-6980.
Thank you!
Confidentiality
will be maintained to the greatest extent possible.
Faculty: Please see the note at the bottom of the page before submitting this information.
A Note for Faculty…
Thank you for your interest in passing along your concerns about this student to the Student Success Committee.
As an instructor, you are in one of the best positions on campus to monitor academic achievement, attendance, student preparedness, adjustment issues, and changes in mood. Our committee is deeply interested in this raw data as it helps us identify students who may be having more global problems that can impact their overall persistence at the University.
By filling out this form, you will generate an email that goes to two members of the Student Success Committee's steering committee: Ted Hoef, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and Kim Kleinman, Assistant Director for Undergraduate Advising in the Academic Advising Center. Barbara Stewart, Director of the Academic Resource Center, is the third member of the steering committee.
We follow up as we are able and notify other resources as appropriate. However, it is often the case that you are in the best position to communicate with your student to get them back into class, caught up, and/or in better command of the material. In other cases, we can help refer the student to appropriate University resources (e.g., counseling, health services, Academic Resource Center) to address factors that are affecting class room performance.
You do not need to go on record with this form to report every student who is not performing well in your class. The main purpose of this alert form is to notify us of a student who may be at risk of dropping out or transferring.
Thanks, in advance, for any observations from the classroom that you can provide so that we can better understand the issues at play for students who are at risk of dropping out or transferring.
Please note that this At-Risk Student Report relies on email for delivery and therefore is not completely secure or 100% confidential.
Thank you,
The Student Success Committee
