- Market Economics
- Entrepreneurship (Education, Consulting)
- Financial Literacy/ Financial Management
- Business ethics
- Environmental Sustainability
- Sustainability (how do we recruit, get media attention, how are we organized, how do we get support from the dean and the institution we are affiliated with, how do we get funding, credit/no-credit, how do we tie into our advisory board)
In its seventh year, Webster SIFE has grown to accomplish many worldwide projects. Here are some examples:
- CREDIFE
To provide below-market interest loans to rural workers and low-income families to start their own business in Quito, Ecuador (South America).
- Partnered with National Chamber of Micro Enterprises
- Two day seminars and 8 professional speakers
- Three ecuadorian Newspapers published the story
- Adventures in entrepreneurship / co-sponsorship St. Louis Public School System
To educate eighth-grade students about the marketing, entrepreneurship, ethical and financial skills needed in running any type of business. Students developed: Missions Statements, Budget, Marketing campaign , logo and slogan, and dealt with ethical dilemmas. Also, students had the opportunity to visited a small business company.
- Seminars
The seminars were targeted not only to out Webster friends but to our community in general.
- "Leadership ought to be easy" local civic leader Jerry Daniels and our co-sponsorship of David Kemper, Chairman of Commerce Bank, spoke with our Webster friends and emphasized the importance of having an excellent customer relationship and the importance of leadership skills needed to successfully compete.
- "Anheuser Bush: Behind Super Bowl Commercials" The Super Bowl seminar discussed the marketing techniques and strategies Anheuser Busch uses in order to stay competitive in the beverage industry. For example, Busch has been emphasizing its advertisements of Michelob Ultra towards women in order to expand their target audience to be more favorable towards females. Moreover, Tim Murphy discussed the social responsibility involved in deciding the Super Bowl commercials and broke through a lot of pre-conceived notions about the beer industry. Students had a great time watching the yet-to-be aired Super Bowl commercials while learning about the secrets of the marketing industry.
i.e. critical thinking, management strategies, strategic planning, and leadership qualities).
