International Education Week

International Education Week - Nov. 13-17, 2017

International Education Week (IEW) is an annual nation-wide celebration of international education and exchange. It is joint initiative through the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that started in 2000. Colleges and universities across the country host globally themed events and activities throughout the week. The goal is to foster and celebrate international experiences for today’s college students as well as the larger campus community.

Monday, November 13

DIWALI CELEBRATION

One of the most important festivals celebrated in India and around the world is Diwali aka the Festival of Lights. It's a five-day celebration that includes good food, fireworks, colored sand, and special candles and lamps. This year we want you to celebrate this joyous occasion symbolizing the triumph of good over evil with us at Webster University. WINS PARTNER VISIT - FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL BAZAR
Fontbonne University Campus

Alive with culture, color, cuisine, art, dance and music, this event is an annual celebration of international education at Fontbonne University. Celebrating the international student body and featuring WINS and other study abroad programs, the International Bazaar has a little of something for everyone. SPRING 2018 STUDY ABROAD PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION
Morning and Afternoon Sessions
Sunnen Lounge

Orientation is mandatory for all Webster St. Louis students and will last approximately two hours. This program introduces students to useful information on adjusting to a new environment, as well as practical information on health and safety matters abroad. You will attend a general session for the first hour and then move to campus-specific sessions for the second hour where you will have the chance to meet with study abroad alumni who have studied at the campus you will be attending. During the campus-specific sessions with study abroad alumni, parents will have the opportunity to attend an open question session with OSA staff. You will receive a notice from the OSA regarding the date and time of the orientation. Students can bring up to two guests. Parents are encouraged to attend.

SPRING BREAK FACULTY-LED PROGRAM DEADLINE
All Day

Application deadline for Spring Break 2018 faculty-led short term study abroad. These programs are taught online during the spring semester with the study abroad component taking place over Spring Break. Program locations include China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Greece and New Mexico. There is still time to get in an application. Apply here!

BEFORE YOU TRAVEL ABROAD

Presentation will cover what international students need to know before they travel abroad including, how to get back into the United States; what documents are required and recommended, what type of questions are typically asked at the Port of Entry. After the presentation students will be able to get travel signatures on their I-20s and DS-201s from DSOs/AROs. Click here for more information.

LEIF J. SVERDRUP GLOBAL TEACHING FELLOWSHIP DEADLINE
All Day

The Leif J. Sverdrup Global Teaching Fellowship provides the opportunity for Webster University faculty members to travel to teach at one of the following Webster international campuses:  Athens, Geneva, Leiden, Vienna, Accra, Cha-am/Bangkok, St. Louis (main campus and Gateway Campus ). This program funds travel, housing and some incidental costs. The fellowship is open to full-time and adjunct faculty. Full-time faculty must have completed at least one academic year at Webster to be eligible. Adjunct faculty must have taught at least six courses at Webster to be eligible. This is a reception to recognize study abroad students who have been awarded Webster study abroad scholarships for Spring 2018 and Spring Break 2018. The event will include a welcome by the Provost’s Office and a group photo. Light refreshments and drinks will be served.

WINS PARTNER VISIT-MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY’S INTERATIONAL FESTIVAL

Missouri Baptist University (MBU) students, faculty and staff will be showcasing their international home country or countries they have experienced. WINS and other Study Abroad programs are showcased as well.
