Beijing Language and Culture University

Webster University and our partner, Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) provide an annual Chinese Studies program in Beijing that begins in the fall semester and can last either the fall semester or a full academic year. The program is focused on intensive language learning.

BLCU is known in China as the Mini-United Nations; it is the only university of its kind in China that specializes in offering Chinese language and culture courses to foreign students. Since its founding, the university has trained some 200,000 foreign students who are proficient in Chinese language and familiar with Chinese culture from 183 countries and regions. Many alumni have become celebrities in various fields such as education, politics and business. Students at BLCU take between 12-18 credit hours in a given semester. Students with advanced Mandarin proficiency may choose from the regular course offerings at BLCU in addition to intensive Mandarin. Courses utilize Beijing as a living classroom, and weave excursions, independent projects, lectures and group work together into a comprehensive experiential learning environment.
