Course Description:

Student participants will be registered in NURS 4600 Health in International Community: Guatemala or NURS 5990 Advanced Studies in Nursing: Nursing in Guatemala. Students will explore cultural values, communication, international and family patterns of persons in Guatemala. The course explores health care systems, politics, and economics that influence health in Guatemala and will include coursework before and after the international experience. On ground, students will assist in the delivery of healthcare services in a rural population through participation in mobile health clinics organized by Nursing Heart, Inc., a health service organization in Guatemala.
