I had known since high school that I wanted to study abroad and see the world.  However, I never knew where…so I decided to study at three of Webster University's international campuses. I loved each for its own charms, but Geneva was my favorite of all.

Firstly, as an IR major, I loved the international atmosphere of the city. Being the city of the United Nations headquarters and dozens other international organizations, the possibilities for international growth and experience are endless. While I was there I acquired a United Nations Library card and an assigned library desk. The opportunity to do research for classes and term papers in the United Nations – while overlooking Lake Geneva— is one I will never forget.

The classes in Geneva were some of my favorites. The professors really know their field, and most of them still work in, or are involved with, the international organizations in Geneva. The professors truly inspired me to spend time at the United Nations and other organizations - not just seeing the places, but also sitting in on meetings and conferences of various departments.

Travel in Geneva was great because of the extremely easy access to other Swiss cities—and all of Europe. One weekend, a friend and I left Geneva to experience a traditional Swiss festival in the Alps with only a few printed maps and our excitement to get us around. As we hiked through the Alps, I was constantly in awe of my surroundings. The weekend exploring the Alps was beyond amazing.

Studying abroad was the best thing I have done in college. The experiences I had while abroad have changed the way I look at life, and it has helped make me who I am. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Mikaelah studied abroad for an academic year, studying in Vienna (Summer 2011), Geneva (Fall 2011) and London (Spring 2012).
