Program Location: Cha-am, Thailand
Semester Abroad: Spring 2011
My semester abroad in Thailand changed my life.
On the Thai campus, I was surrounded by a diverse group from numerous countries round the world. I learned of their customs and cultures, taking in every moment I could in hopes that it make me a better human being.
The classes were unlike anything I had experienced before in America. They were laid back, but still managed to probe your brain with new exciting information at the same time. There was no real concept of time after classes ended, no rushing around to reach your next destination. Living in Thailand was about living in the moment and not worrying about the future to a worrisome extent.
I even took a chance on the wild side, and went on a backpacking trip with four of my best friends with only our backpacks, a train ticket to Malaysia in hand, and a dream to reach Singapore. We reached Singapore in six days and managed to return four days later safe and sound and filled with happy memories.
Living in Thailand changed me in the way I think and how I perceive other people's actions. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world. Because it made me the person I am today, and gave me a glimpse of the world traveler I one day hope to be.
