During the Week of April 23-27, the Webster University Sustainability Office and Sustainability Coalition are partnering to host the second campus-wide Sustainability Week. Sustainability Week will provide ample opportunities to educate oneself and think critically about the most prevalent issues being faced by our natural world.

The week will be comprised of a wide variety of events and opportunities for the campus community to make a greater connection with our campus’s built and natural habitats. 

No registration is necessary and all activities are FREE and open to the public. Sustainability Week is the perfect opportunity to explore more of your campus and GET OUTSIDE!

MONDAY

Pop-Up Webster Hall Free Store


Monday, April 23
Beginning at 10 am Monday - Friday 12 pm

Location: Webster Hall Ground Floor
Description: The ground floor of Webster Hall will be lined with tables containing gently used office supplies and home goods. The Free Store is a place for useable items to be exchanged among the campus community and unwanted items to get a new life! If you come to drop off or take home some items, please be mindful of the space and help us keep it clean and organized! 

Webster Library Book Club

Monday, April 23, 12 pm - 1:30 pm
Location: Emerson Library Conference Room
Description: Webster University's Sustainability Planner Kelsey Wingo will lead a discussion on Dr. Robert K. Musil's book, Rachel Carson and her Sisters. The author, Dr. Musil, will be available afterward to answer questions and sign copies.

TUESDAY

Natural Area Community Clean-Up

Tuesday, April 24, 9 am-11 am
Location: Natural Area (behind the Parking Garage)
Description: Volunteers will be pulling weeds & invasive plants, picking up trash, and learning about the distinctive habitats in the Natural Area
Partners: Webster University Grounds Crew and Biological Sciences
*We will provide all the supplies, anyone is welcome to come help or observe, be sure to dress appropriately!

WEDNESDAY

Sustainability Lunch & Learn: Building Leaders & Tough Topics led by Dr. Robert Musil 

Wednesday, April 25, 12pm-1pm
Location: East Academic Building 253-262
DescriptionOn Wednesday, April 25th, Dr. Robert Musil will be participating in a one-show run of the Webster University 2018 Sustainability Lunch & Learn lecture series to discuss the vision of a world led by youth raising their voices and their hands in politics. All are welcome to bring your lunch and join in a discussion about how the youth adults of the world can continue moving into their roles as the true movers and shakers.

Campus Repair Fair


Thursday, April 26, 11 am

Location: UC Quad/Patio
Description: The Webster University Facilities staff will be partnering with Perennial STL to provide a fair full of opportunities for attendees to bring items in need of repair - clothing, small appliances and furniture, electronics, bicycles - to transform people into fixers instead of consumers and exchange ideas and skills among our community!

LIGHTS OFF! Challenge

Location: Campus-wide
DescriptionStudents are invited to challenge one another to turn off all of the lights and power down unneeded electronics in classrooms across campus for the weekend!
