Guest Wireless Access

The Webster University Guest Wireless network further supports the mission of the university by providing a method for Webster University affiliates to gain easy access to pertinent and topical information technology resources. This policy ensures that guest wireless access is provisioned only by the Information Technology department, and also establishes rules for proper management, security, and use of the Webster University guest wireless network.

Policy

The university agrees to provide wireless network access to guests of categories 1, 2, 3 and 4 for purposes of casual web surfing and exchange of communications (such as e-mail or other messaging). Access is for internet usage only; guest wireless accounts will not have access to any other Webster services or resources. All wireless use is subject to all applicable campus policies including the Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy, to which all guests must agree before service is provided.

Guests will be provided with either a unique registration account, or a group-unique registration account, for their exclusive use in order to access the guest wireless network with their wireless devices. Also provided will be a short "Frequently Asked Questions" document with references to "self-help" resources.

Wireless network access for guests is provided at a "best effort" level, and no expectations or assumptions should be made about the quality or availability of service. Guests will not be provided any technical support by Information Technology, including assistance configuring their wireless devices.
