IT Service Desk Representative

Description: Duties include, but are not limited to, providing technical support to and answering questions from faculty, staff, and students; basic to intermediate troubleshooting on a wide variety of topics; documentation; detailed records keeping. Student workers are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.

Positions immediately available and continue throughout the year, including during the summer. All majors and backgrounds encouraged to apply. Opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications: Detail oriented. Good knowledge of basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Windows, Macintosh and major browsers. Good written and verbal communications skills and customer service skills. Other skills and attributes:

  • Proven superior customer service background and skills are required.
  • Experience with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Windows operating system, and major Internet browsers, is required.
  • Experience with Macintosh operating system, network and wireless connectivity troubleshooting, printer troubleshooting, peripherals, and FTP software is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential.
  • Staying current in technology issues and with all departmental resources on a regular basis is required.
  • Ability to show initiative and excel in a fast paced environment where strong commitment and time-management skills are necessary is critical.
  • Ability to manage a changing workload, remaining productive, and being able to display and maintain patience, courtesy, and professionalism even in stressful situations is essential.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours per week and attend various training sessions throughout the academic year is required.
  • Ability to adhere to wide range of policies and procedures, including security and confidentiality, is crucial.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills are also essential for this position.

Pay Rate: $9.00 hourly (Work-Study Only)

Lab Assistant

Description: Assisting faculty and students with general computer questions, basic hardware/software troubleshooting, work-order entry, replacing printer paper and toner, cleaning labs. Other duties include opening/closing labs, lab upkeep and maintenance as well as assisting in the technical support of computer lab hardware and software when required.

Qualifications: Knowledge of Windows and Macintosh environments. Strong customer service skills and attention to detail are needed.

Pay Rate: $9.00 hourly (Work-Study Only)

ResTech Consultant

Description: Assist resident students with their personal computers by helping clean them of viruses, spyware and malware. Enable students to use technology more efficiently though training and consulting services.

Qualifications: Experience in both Windows and Macintosh environments, familiar with a variety of PC applications. Must be proficient at internet research and knowledgeable of general computer software and operating system maintenance. Must be detail oriented, conscientious and customer service oriented

Pay Rate: $9.00 hourly (Work-Study Only)

Media Services Assistant

Description: Perform general clerical and technical duties. Oversee and reserve media equipment and maintain reservation bookings as needed for faculty, staff & students. Check in and out media center equipment. Answer and direct media center inquiries.

Qualifications: Prefer Media majors or minors or individuals with knowledge/interest in various media areas (audio, film, video, or photography). Good communications and customer service skills are needed for this position. Ability to lift and place 20-40 lbs. may be needed at times. Good organizational and problem solving abilities are needed together with good detail orientation.

Pay Rate: $7.50 (Work Study Only)
