Is your phone within service range? Most cell phones have an antenna icon on the display screen that shows the strength of your current signal. If your signal is weak or out of range, please move your phone to a location with a better signal.
- If you have a strong signal, does your cell phone service plan include SMS text messaging? Not all cell phone plans include text messaging, so you may need to contact your service provider to add text messaging service to your plan.
- For AT&T customers, you will see two option in the Select Carrier drop-down box: AT&T and AT&T (Legacy). Select the AT&T (Legacy) option only if you had an AT&T cell phone that later became a Cingular phone and then went back to AT&T. Otherwise, select the AT&T option.
- Some older cell phone models do not support text messaging. Many cell phones and mobile devices made after 2002 support text messaging. If your cell phone is older than that, then you may or may not be able to receive SMS text messages. Please contact your wireless service provider for further information.
- If you are a Sprint user and did not receive the validation code, logon go to the Services area and then click on "Change Status" and choose "Sprint PCS (Alternate)".
- If you are Nextel user, make sure you choose Nextel, NOT Sprint from the carrier drop-down box.
- If you are a T-Mobile user and did not receive the validation code logon, go to the Services area and then click on "Change Status" and choose "T-Mobile (Alternate)".

Click on the Services area.

Look at the status next to each phone number/email address; it should say Active in green.
- If it does not say Active, then there will be a link that says Validate Now. Clicking this link will send a new validation code to that device or email address.
- If you notice an error in the phone number or email address, click on "Change Status". This will allow you to update the information. Once it is updated, it will send out a new validation code that you will need to enter to complete the process.
-
Click on the Groups area and check to make sure that you are subscribed to the group that received the message that was sent. (St. Louis Weather information will be sent to the St. Louis Metro weather alerts group.)

I have a pre-paid cell phone, such as Tracfone. Can I use Webster Alerts?
Some pre-paid cell phones are capable of text messaging. Please check the carrier drop-down on the sign-up form for your specific carrier. See a complete list of supported carriers.
I don't have a cell phone. Can I still sign up?
You can sign up for the email alerts, which you will receive even if there is a problem with Webster’s email servers. The link to sign up for email only is located at the bottom of the Create a New Account page, just below the regular sign-up form. You will need to reply back to a validation email once you sign up to complete the process.
I received my email from Webster Alerts much later than other people I know. Why?
Email delivery is not instantaneous in many cases. Every email client, whether it is on your desktop or web based, has different send/receive frequencies. This can affect the speed at which you receive messages. Also, each individual email provider varies in how quickly they process incoming email.
I received my email validation code, but get an error when I click on it.
The validation link in the email can be very long, and some email clients will break the link across two or more lines. Try copying and pasting the entire URL into the address bar of your browser, or opening up another email reader and clicking on the link from there.
