What bachelor's degree programs are there at Webster University in Tashkent?

When will classes begin?

For bachelor's students:

  • Fall semester starts on August 24, 2020
  • Spring semester starts on January 11, 2021

 

 

If I start in the Spring 2021 semester, when will I finish my studies?

You will start your classes in early January and you will continue studying during the summer. You will start your second year classes from August of the same year. Your summer semester will be intensive, but afterward you will have the opportunity to take classes with students who started in the Fall semester before you.

 

 

Does Webster University in Tashkent have a license to operate in Uzbekistan?

Webster University in Tashkent was established by a Decree of the President of Uzbekistan №4245 dated March 20, 2019 as a result of partnership between Webster University’s leadership and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. We are fully accredited to operate in Uzbekistan.

 

 

Will my degree be internationally recognized?

Yes. Degrees from Webster University are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (USA) and is accepted worldwide as a Tier One American Degree.

 

 

When can I apply for Fall 2020?

Webster University admits students on a rolling basis, until July 31, 2020. We do not have a hard quota and encourage all who wish to apply, to do so before the deadline.

 

 

What are the requirements for applicants to bachelor's programs at Webster University in Tashkent?

We require applicants to submit two documents:

  1. Official high school diploma and transcripts.

    For full admission, Webster University in Tashkent requires a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

    If you are still in school you may submit a transcript of your grades from your 10th and 11th years of studies. You will receive a provisional admission decision. After we receive your final transcript, we will update your admissions decision from provisional to full.
  1. Proof of English proficiency.

    We accept scores from several English proficiency tests, including the following:
  • TOEFL iBT: 80 minimum score
  • IELTS: 6.0 minimum score
  • Pearson: 53 minimum score
  • Michigan English Placement Test: 61 minimum score*
  • LanguageCert: C1 minimum level
  • Duolingo English Test: 120  minimum score

* We administer this test on our campus for students who do not have another test score available. To take the MEPT, please contact our admissions team. During the COVID-19 quarantine, Webster University in Tashkent is not administering Michigan English Placement Test.  We will resume testing once the quarantine has lifted.

 

 

What entrance exams does Webster University in Tashkent require?

We do not have entrance exams. The only way to get into our university is to apply through the online application (at webster.edu/apply) and submit the required documents. The admissions team in Tashkent will make sure your file is complete and send it to the St. Louis, USA Main Campus’ International Admissions Team for the official admissions review and decision. If you are admitted, your Tashkent Admissions Counselor will reach out to you within 2 weeks.

 

 

How do I apply for bachelor's programs?

To apply for bachelor’s programs, please go to webster.edu/apply, choose your desired degree level, create an application, and follow the instructions there. You will need to upload the following supplemental documents:

  1. English proficiency scores/certificate: TOEFL (minimum 80) or IELTS (minimum 6.0). Read about other English scores you can submit here.
  2. Official high school diploma and transcript, with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5. We caculate the GPA for you. Read about submitting an application if you don't have a diploma yet.
  3. Copy of your passport

Important: All documents must be in English. If your documents are not in English, please get them translated and notarized. During the COVID-19 quarantine, we accept documents without translations, however note that all applicants will have to provide Webster University with all translations after the quarantine is lifted.

What happens after I submit my application?

The admissions process at Webster University in Tashkent looks like this:

  1. Fill out an application in the portal webster.edu/apply
  2. Submit your documents: English exam results, diploma and transcript.
  3. The international admissions team in the St. Louis, Missouri home campus will review your application and your Admissions Counselor in Tashkent will let you know of your admission decision within two weeks.
  4. If you did not submit a diploma and transcript: Once you have your diploma and transcript, submit them to us through the same portal you used before or send them to us in an email to uzadmissions@webster.edu. We will update your admissions decision from provisional to full and enroll you in classes!
  5. Receive a contract and submit a small tuition deposit of $100 USD to confirm your placement in the upcoming term.
  6. Check into your Connections account, sign up for your Webster.edu email, and purchase your textbooks – it’s time to begin your classes!

 

 

What is a provisional offer?

A provisional offer means that Webster considers you a good candidate, but with the provision that upon graduation you get the grades we require. In other words, even if you get your provisional offer - keep studying hard!  

 

 

Can I transfer to Webster University in Tashkent?

Yes. Please go to webster.edu/apply, choose your desired degree level, create an application as a transfer student and submit the following documents:   

  1. English proficiency scores/certificate from TOEFL (minimum 80) or IELTS (minimum 6.0)
  2. Official transcript from your previous university with a GPA of at least 2.5
  3. Copy of your passport

Am I required to pay an application fee?

No, our undergraduate applicants do not pay application fees. The fee is automatically waived in the online application. 

 

 

How do I take the Michigan Language Assessment test administered at Webster University Tashkent?

During the COVID-19 quarantine, Webster University in Tashkent’s Michigan Language tests are closed.  Once the quarantine is lifted, we will resume the testing.  The best way to stay informed about the testing dates is to submit your application at www.webster.edu/apply.  To be put on a waiting list, please send an email to uzadmissions@webster.edu.  You are required to pay for the test before you take it. The cost is 30 USD.

 

 

Can I take preparatory English courses if I do not meet the English language requirement?

We do not currently offer preparatory English courses. However, we offer ESL (English as a Second Language) courses for admitted students who don't fully meet the English Language requirements. This course is taken during the first year of studies along with other classes. 

 

 

Can you help me to find a tutor?

At this time, we cannot recommend any teachers or tutors.  We encourage you to reach out to your high school teachers for their recommendations on how to improve your studies.

 

 

Do I need to submit SAT results?

No, we don’t require results from the SAT. You can upload them as a supplemental item and, if your scores are high enough, they could qualify for your Proof of English Proficiency. However, we generally like to use a TOEFL, IELTS, or the Michigan English Placement Test to determine your English abilities.

 

 

How much is the tuition for bachelor's students?

The tuition fee for students admitted for bachelor's programs in the academic year 2020-2021 is 3500 USD for two semesters of study. Payment is made in UZS based on the Central Bank of Uzbekistan rate on the day of payment.

 

 

When do I pay the tuition fee?

You can pay in two installments, the first before the middle of September and second before the middle of January.

 

 

Does the university provide scholarships?

No, we do not currently provide scholarships, grants, or budget spots. We are working on offering scholarships to successful students starting from the second year of their studies.

 

 

Do you offer any student accommodation on campus?

We do not currently have accommodation. However we are in the process of reconstructing another building next to our current facilities at 13 Navoiy Avenue, and hopefully we will be able to offer dormitories to our students in 2021.

 

 

How can I apply for Work & Travel Program?

The Work & Travel Program is offered by foreign Embassies and Consulates in Uzbekistan. It is not a university program. We may provide students wo wish to apply for this program with documents confirming enrollment.

Webster University has its own Study Abroad program, and we are excited that in Spring 2021 we will launch the program in Tashkent. Read about it below.

 

 

Can I study abroad in another Webster campus?

Yes. Undergraduate students can study abroad at other Webster University locations starting from their second year, once per year for one or two semesters. You can go to the original Webster campus in St Louis, Missouri, or to 9 other cities worldwide. You will pay the Tashkent tuition, and local housing and miscellaneous costs. This program allows you to continue working on your degree, while exploring other countries and cultures. Take a look at our locations here.

 

 

Will I study with international students?

Yes. We expect to recruit globally. Students from other Webster campuses will also come to study abroad in Tashkent in the future.

 

 

Can I see or visit your campus?

Yes, we would love to show you around our campus! Please email our admission officers at uzadmissions@webster.edu to schedule an individual tour of the building, or register for one of our monthly Open Houses in future.

Quarantine: During the COVID-19 quarantine, Webster University in Tashkent’s campus is closed to visitors.  We host Virtual Open Houses regularly. You can also contact our admissions counselors via phone or on social media.

What master's degree programs do you offer?

Where does Webster University in Tashkent offer master’s classes?

If you are interested in the MBA program, you can study at our Tashkent campus on Navoiy street.  If you are interested in taking the MA in TESL program, you can study at our Tashkent campus on Navoiy street or at either of our partner universities:

What are the admission requirements for master's degrees?

  1. Undergraduate diploma and transcript with a GPA of at least 2.5
  2. English proficiency scores/certificate.
    • MA TESL: TOEFL (minimum 80, minimum writing score 22) or IELTS (minimum 6.0)
    • MBA: TOEFL (minimum 80, minimum writing score 22) or IELTS (minimum 6.5)
  3. Copy of your passport
  4. Most recent CV (Curriculum Vitae)

We also accept scores from the following English proficiency tests:

  • LanguageCert: C1 level
  • Duolingo English Test: 120 minimum score (for MBA) or 110 (for MA TESL)
  • Michigan English Placement Test. We administer this test on our campus for students who do not have another test score available. To take the MEPT, please contact our admissions team.

The application process is slightly different from bachelor's programs, so we encourage you to visit our official website so you can learn more. When can I apply for MA TESL?

The MA TESL program starts every year in our Fall Semester. The deadline to apply to Webster University is July 31. We admit students on a rolling basis, which means that you can already start your application, even if you don't have a diploma yet!

 

 

When can I apply for MBA?

The next intake for the MBA program is Fall 2020. However, we can start a new cohort a few times throughout the year if we have enough students.  If you are interested, please fill out an application and we can let you know when the next cohort starts classes.

 

 

What does the admissions process look like for graduate students?

The process looks like this:

    1. Create an account in the portal webster.edu/apply
    2. Fill out an application.
    3. Submit your documents. If you are still studying, you may submit your university transcript with your current grades from all years of studying. Please note, you must complete your bachelor’s degree before you can enroll in classes for a Webster University master’s program.
    4. The St. Louis, Missouri home campus’ international admissions team will review your application and your Tashkent Admissions Counselor will let you know of your admission decision after two weeks.
    5. Once you have your diploma and transcript, submit them to us through the same portal you used before, or send them to us in an email directly. We will update your admissions decision from provisional to full and enroll you in classes!
