In this course, you will learn to
· Analyze the rhetorical context of a variety of types of writing situations and use the analysis to plan and shape a written document
· Conduct research using the library, the Internet, and personal interviews and integrate the results into effective written documents
· Evaluate the quality of various sources of information (Internet and non-Internet).
· Use the writing process to improve the effectiveness of a piece of writing.
· Constructively critique your own writing as well as that of others
As part of fulfilling the general education requirement for communications, we will
· Use a systematic approach (the process of rhetorical analysis, research, drafting, and revising) to written communications in English
· Spend a significant amount of time practicing and improving writing skills (with the goal of achieving clear, concise, and accurate communication)
