NEW STUDENTS

( IMPORTANT: Read this first )

"Learning is easy. It's the remembering that's hard."

All new students should review all of the topics referred to in this section ASAP.

Your first stop should be the PROCEDURES section. I have established certain guidelines to efficiently handle your submissions. Please pay attention to these instructions before you hastily submit your Student Survey, your VCard, or your Seating Request. Check the ROSTER web page to check on the status of your submissions.

All students need to complete my STUDENT SURVEY FORM  and to also submit a VCard. These are your first two homework assignment and they are to be submitted no later than the day before classes start.

You will also need to select a seating location within the computer lab prior to the first night of class. This will be your permanent seat for the semester. Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. So do not delay submitting your selection.

There is a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) section that answers almost any question that you may have about the course, procedures, grading, attendance policy, testing, etc. Familiarize yourself with these topics prior to the first night of class.

The weekly reading / lecture schedule can be found by clicking on the HOMEWORK link in the Main Menu. Download the Review Questions for the current week's lectures and use them to prepare for each class.

The textbook is not available from the Webster office. It must be purchased online.

Instead of buying new textbooks, you can usually save money by buying used textbooks from several online sources such as www.amazon.com, www.pricemonk.com, and www.half.com.

You also have the option to save more money by renting your textbook from www.chegg.com, www.bookrenter.com, or www.bookswim.com.

READ THIS SECTION PRIOR TO THE FIRST CLASS.

To help you prepare for each class session and to help you review for each test, I have created a list of review questions that you can download each week. Prior to each class, you should look up the answers in the textbook and write them down. If I ask you a question in class, you will be prepared to answer. If something does not make sense to you, bring it up in class.

Due to time constraints, I will not necessarily cover all of the questions on the review sheets in class. However, they are still possible topics for the next test.

The lectures move at a fairly fast pace. So do not expect to take notes on every topic I cover in class. If you have done the pre-class review, all you will need to do is to add an occasional comment to the ones you already wrote down.
