Welcome new ITM 5000 students!

Although there are no restrictions on your taking another ITM course in conjunction with ITM 5000, I strongly encourage you not to do so this semester. This is based upon feedback that I have received from previous ITM 5000 students. They either either said that taking two ITM courses consumed more time than they expected or they believe that they would have done better in the other course if they had completed ITM 5000 first. If you absolutely want to take two courses, you should consider making the second one an elective.

You will have 1-2 projects to turn in for this class. They are not difficult to perform (even if you have very little computer expertise). The primary goal of these assignments is to make you develop analytical skills that people expect graduate students to have.

This course does require a lot of reading each week if you want to keep up with the material for each test. If your job or family situation precludes you from devoting the required number of hours per week, you should not consider taking another class along with ITM 5000. Otherwise, your grades may suffer in both courses.

Even if you have a degree in MIS or CIS, you will find this course and its tests challenging. Do not think that you can "fake your way" to an A. We cover a lot of material that has probably never been covered in your undergraduate classes. So you will need to devote a lot of time to this course as well. There will be, of course, some chapters where the material is very familiar (especially during the first few weeks). But many of the chapters will cover topics with which you are not intimately familiar.

THINGS TO DO ...

THE FIRST TIME YOU LOG INTO THIS WEB SITE

Review the seating chart and select where you want to sit in the computer lab. Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Review SEATING prior to submitting the Seating Request Form

Download the  STUDENT SURVEY You should submit this survey as soon as possible but no later than two days preceding the start of class. (Sunday night for Tuesday's class and Tuesday night for the Thursday class). This is your first on-line assignment. Points will be deducted if this assignment is either submitted past the deadline or does not comply with my instructions.

Print out the instructions for submitting a vCard . This enables me to create an e-mail list for this class so you can get course-related updates and other e-mail during the course. This is your second on-line assignment and it also needs to be submitted by the above deadline.

NOTE:
As I receive your inputs, I will post the status of each submission on the ROSTER web page for your class. An "X" shows that I have received the item. If you submitted an item more than one day ago and it does not appear on the list, resubmit by retrieving your earlier submission from your SENT folder and clicking on FORWARD. Sometimes messages get lost or can be deleted due to e-mail filters.

BEFORE THE FIRST NIGHT OF CLASS
