WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly assignments can be found by clicking on the appropriate hyperlink button in the menu at the top of the page. When you get to the desired page, you may want to use the PRINT button on your browser to get a hard copy (i.e., paper printout) that you can refer to later on.

There will be some hands-on homework assignments involving either the Internet or some other PC-related activity. It is your responsibility to check these pages each week to see if there have been any revisions. So do not print out all of the assignments at the beginning of the semester.

NOTICE: Make sure that you read and follow the Procedures I've outlined before you submit these assignments. Otherwise, you might lose points for not complying with these procedures.

These tasks are intended to expose you to various Internet or software features that you may not have discovered on your own. Most of these assignments are fairly easy to accomplish if you simply follow my step-by-step directions. Some of the assignments require you to go to web sites over which I have no control. So it is possible that the site may have changed from the time I last looked at it. If this happens, please notify me immediately so I can either modify the assignment's procedure or notify the entire class of the problem or any changes.

Even if you don't have a lot of PC or Internet experience, you should have no problem completing these assignments in a relatively short period of time. They are not extremely time-consuming. However, you will need access to a PC and the Internet.

If you don't have access to these resources, you might have to find a library that provides Internet access or complete your assignment from your office PC. As a last resort, you can try to make arrangements with the Webster office to come in during the day to use one of the PCs in the computer lab. Since there are classes each evening, the lab will not be available after normal work hours (5 PM).

DEDUCTIONS

If you did not receive full points for an assignment, click on the links at the top of the Homework Grades web page to review the reasons why points are commonly deducted. They basically reiterate the procedures defined here and on the E-Mail Procedure web page.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS

Points will be deducted for lateness. The later an assignment is, the more points will be deducted.

This is only fair to the students who conscientiously try to complete the assignments on time. Obviously, it is still better to receive a lower grade than to receive no grade at all. So you should make every effort to complete each of these assignments as quickly as possible.

If you are not conscientious about these deadlines, you may not receive any points at all. So don't wait until the end of the semester to complete these assignments. They may not be worth any points at that time.
