I send e-mail to students
periodically throughout the semester so its important that you
have an e-mail address and that you keep me advised of any changes
during the semester.
I strongly recommend that you give me both
your work and home e-mail addresses. That way the chances of you missing
a message are greatly diminished. It also allows messages to be
delivered to you in a timely manner in case you don't routinely check
one of your e-mail accounts each day.
In case I have a personal emergency and
need to cancel class, I will most likely notify you through e-mail since
there is no way I can contact the entire class by telephone.
If there are changes to a weekly
assignment, I will also notify the class through e-mail because I know
that not all of you will check the web site routinely for updates.
If you gave me more than one e-mail
address, I have entered it into my CONTACT list for the class. That
means that you should be receiving two messages from me. If you are only
getting one message, that either means that you only gave me one, the
address you originally gave me had an error in it, or that it was never
included in the VCF card you sent me. Update your VCF card and send it
to me again.
If your e-mail account changes during the
semester, please notify me of any changes by sending me a revised VCF
card.
Webster's computer system also allows you
to include an e-mail address in your Student Record. Although I prefer
to use the VCF card you submit, other instructors use the global mail
feature to send messages to students registered in their classes. Some
students omit this information. Consequently, they may not get
communications from these instructors. Do yourself a favor and check
your student record data to make sure that you have a valid e-mail
account entered.
