Chris Van Allsburg is a highly celebrated author. He was born and raised in Michigan where he began his artistic career as a sculptor. Since becoming an author, Mr. Van Allsburg has won  Caldecott Awards and now, has a second book, The Polar Express,  appearing as a motion picture. He currently lives in Rhode Island with his wife. He has two daughters.

*In 1988, I attended a conference. Chris Van Allsburg was one of our speakers. I purchased a copy of The Polar Express, and was fortunate enough to have Mr. Van Allsburg sign it. It remains, not only, one of my all time favorite books, but a treasured component of my library.
