I am professor and chair in the Department of Communications and Journalism at Webster University. I hold a BS in Communication from Northwestern University (1975) and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College (1991). My novel, The Might-Have-Been, is scheduled for publication by Ballantine in Spring 2012.
Twice my work has been cited among the distinguished stories in Best
American Short Stories, in 1982 and 1989. Another of my stories was
nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2003, and an early version of the first chapter of my novel, The Might-Have-Been (under its working title "A Saint in the Family") received second prize in the 2004 Santa Fe Writers Project
