NURS 4250 ~ Spring II  2008


COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course focuses on care of the community as client. Emphasis is on the role of the nurse in addressing the preventative health needs of populations at risk. Current public health problems, epidemiology, trends in health care delivery, and community resources are examined. Students analyze the sociocultural, political, economic, ethical, and environmental factors that influence community and global health. Prerequisites: NURS 3400, 3410 and 3420.

    • 2/27/08 ~ Webster clinical focusing on the homeless is scheduled on selected Wednesdays and Saturdays between April 2, and May 3.  Sign up in Maria's office. Check out information about the Uplift Organization on their Website. Details will be discussed and distributed in class.
    • 3/18/08~ Following the first day of class, groups for the community assessment project will have been formed and you may begin data collection. Make sure you exchange contact information so you can communicate with other group members.
    • 3/19/08 ~  Individual E-Mail links, when available, have been established on the Students page and a test message has been sent to each address. If you don't receive a message, please e-mail Margo from your preferred address so any potential errors on my part can be rectified.
