Welcome
to the Political Arena!
This elective nursing course
will allow you to explore health care policy and the policy-making process
at the state and federal level. Selected health care issues from the current
legislative session will be used to illustrate the application of the legislative
process to professional nursing. We will examine what is meant by lobbying
and how this is conducted by nurses, individually; and collectively, by varying
groups and nursing organizations. The course will enable students to visit
with legislators and to observe legislative activity.
