A native of St. Louis, Roger Renkle attended Stanford University and
enlisted in the Marines in 1917. After training at Quantico, VA, he headed
to France in October 1917. He fought in the famous battle of Belleau Wood
and was wounded in its early stages, June 5, 1918.
Renkle's complete diary will be on display at the Soldiers' Memorial
and Military Museum in St. Louis starting June 1st.
