Beyond simply selling a product, advertising and marketing is about connecting with people in creative ways, reaching specific audiences, and understanding the ways and means of promotion. Students and marketing professionals in Webster's Advertising and Marketing Communications programs learn theory and application to help develop a creative, competitive edge, while learning to analyze traditional advertising, social media, and mobile marketing campaigns to establish and advance in their careers.

At Webster University, our students learn both in the classroom and experientially. Our faculty members bring real-world experience and industry knowledge to every classroom.
Webster University's award-winning advertising and marketing faculty work in agencies and with clients using the latest communications channels and techniques to produce real-world solutions. We balance academic and practicing faculty with extensive experience in consumer products, business-to-business, and institutional advertising execution in broadcast, print, outdoor, online, and social media. And our communications students often receive internship opportunities to enhance their curriculum.
Advertising and Marketing Communications majors learn all phases of the communications process through hands-on experience planning, budgeting, creative strategy development, copywriting, creative advertising production, media planning and research. Students are encouraged to take advantage of internship openings with companies such as Osborn Barr Paramore, Momentum Worldwide, Emmis Communications, Live Nation, Moosylvania, Javelin, Inc., Fox Sports Midwest, HLK, and St. Louis Magazine.
Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to participate in planning and executing a multimedia advertising campaign. In recent years, some of these campaigns won regional awards and ranked among the top 10 in national competitions.

Working to advance in their advertising and marketing careers, graduate students learn how to stay competitive through the application of emerging technologies, understanding the influences of global cultures and developing socially responsible advertising strategies. Webster faculty are experts working in advertising and marketing who are able to share the latest insights with students.
Theory-based study enables students to anticipate and successfully engage in consumer trends, non-traditional media and new technologies that affect marketing communications. Additionally, students pursuing the master's degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of communication plans and give productive direction within team environments.

The School of Communications complex houses a state-of-the-art media production and education facility, meeting industry standards, and including unique, first-in-the-region technologies and capabilities. Studio facilities include an audio and video production/recording suite, sound stage, workshop space, photography studio, gallery, animation, game design, and video post-production labs as well as flexible teaching spaces.
