Students at Webster University can study Chinese formally through the intermediate level. They can also choose from an array of Chinese culture classes, such as "Martial Arts Film and Chinese Film," "Women, Gender, and Chinese Cinema," and "Learn Chinese Culture through Cooking," as well as pursue independent study options. All for-credit courses are offered through Webster University's Global Languages Cultures and Societies Department. Class availability in any given semester is determined by GLCS.
The Confucius Institute at Webster University is now offering a virtual version of our Chinese language and culture class for kids ages 6-14. All classes are taught by highly experienced, local teachers. Students will be grouped in small pods of roughly five students. Classes will be twice per week via Zoom, with exact times being determined after the registration deadline.
Online, one-on-one tutoring is available to all Webster students enrolled in a Chinese language course at no extra charge. Students are highly encouraged to sign up for this service on a weekly basis. Webster University faculty and staff interested in learning Chinese are also welcome to register for tutoring sessions. Faculty have successfully utilized this service in the past to learn basic Chinese prior to visiting Webster campuses in China.
